How does Swiggy aim to deliver in 10 minutes?
In a declaration, Swiggy commented that it will achieve this by partnering with restaurants that excel in the following- quick order turnarounds, focusing on dishes requiring minimal to no preparation time, and restricting the delivery radius to 2 km.
It was also added that the delivery partners are not informed of the difference between regular orders and Bolt orders- which implies that they are neither penalized nor incentivized based on delivery time.
CEO Comments of Swiggy
The CEO of the company, Rohit Kapoor commented that Bolt is the next evolution in the company’s mission to provide for unmatched convenience. As per him. the firm revolutionized food delivery by cutting average wait times to 30 minutes-10 years ago.
Now, they are reducing the wait time even further for frequently ordered items like burgers, ice creams, biryani and coffee partnering with trusted restaurants to deliver food in mere 10 minutes.
Prior attempt of the competitor- Zomato for 10- minute delivery
The birth of Bolt by Swiggy interestingly comes after the competitor- Zomato’s attempt at 10-minute delivery.
After putting up its operations in cities like Gurugram, Delhi and Bengaluru in 2022, it had announced that it was rebranding this offering in January 2023.
Whereas Swiggy is betting on easy-to-make meals from restaurants within a 2 km radius, Zomato had previously planned to fulfill the 10-minute food orders with the help of finishing stations located in close proximity to high demand customer neighborhoods.
The idea was to create a combination with a sophisticated demand prediction algorithm and future ready in station robotics.
